Thu: 11/05/2009

Instructor: Russell Willis

This four-week course, allows students to explore three main aspects of digital photography.

First, students investigate a variety of ways to take digital photos, with the goal of collecting photographs that can be used in a teacher's curricula. Second, they explore digital photography as a process that teachers can use with students to help them learn about important subject matter. Finally, the course discusses the importance of helping students become visually literate. The student will be spending a lot of time learning about the processes of innovative photographic techniques, as well as time actually taking pictures. The digital pictures taken during the course will be shared online. This requires either a digital camera, or access to a scanner.

This course is asynchronous. There will be opportunities to collaborate with peers; however, work can be completed within the individual's own time schedule within the 4-week time span. The majority of the subject matter is delivered through online readings and interaction & feedback with the instructor.
