This six-week course is designed for the teacher who wants to quickly get a Web site up and running, but who also wants to master the fundamental skills and tools of Web development. The course facilitator presents the fundamentals of Dreamweaver CS3 in the context of creating your own professional Web-based portfolio. Participants will learn the basic techniques and methods for constructing a Web site, and as practical application, will design and develop their own site from start to finish. Through regular and personal communication, the teacher assists with the subject matter using e-mail, chat rooms, and other online tools, helping to bridge the gap between technology and the classroom. This course takes approximately 45 clock hours of work to complete.

Course Objectives

This course will enhance the participant's knowledge and skills in web site development. Successful completion of the course will provide the participant with a comprehensive website portfolio and the skills and foundation necessary to complete a class-oriented website.

Credits Offered

: 3 Credits Continuing Education Units (CEU):

One CEU is equal to 15 contact hours. Upon successful completion of the course a student is provided with a Certificate of Achievement. Please contact your professional development coordinator to receive approval to take courses with CEU’s for teacher re-certification.

: 3 Credits Southern New Hampshire University Graduate Credit (semester credits):

Graduate credits (semester) and transcripts are provided by Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), a regionally accredited university (New England Association of Schools and Colleges) located in Manchester, New Hampshire. As a regionally accredited university, credits from SNHU are accepted by all fifty states for teacher recertification.

: 3 Credits ACT 48 CPE Credits (Pennsylvania Only)

All courses delivered by Teachers College and the ACT 48 Center have been approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) for teacher re-certification and Level II certification under ACT 48. The ACT 48 CPE credit approval has provided under a partnership with Midwestern IU IV.

- Level II Certification: Teachers must complete 24 PDE approved IU credits OR graduate level credits from a regional accredited university to qualify for Level II certification. If Level I has not been converted to Level II in 6 teaching years your level 1 certificate will lapse and you cannot be employed by a PA school.

- ESL Program Specialist Certificate (PA Teachers): The ESL program specialist certificate has been approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education as an endorsement and for ACT 48 credits

- Leadership (PA Administrator): Teachers College leadership courses have been approved under Act 48 and Act 45 (PIL) by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

: 5 Credits Professional Learning Units (PLU’s) (Georgia Teachers)

Professional Learning Units (PLU’s) are approved by the Georgia DOE for teacher re-certification. All courses have statewide approval numbers listed under Global Classroom on the Georgia Department of Education website. Please note: GA DOE requires that all courses require a prior approval form. Please contact Student Services for more information.

: 45 Credits Is provided when a student has successfully completed and received a passing grade on all assignments and lessons.
